7. Pandoravirus

Discovered by a research team led by husband and wife team Jean-Michel Claverie and Chantal Abergel, this virus was found at the shores of Melbourne, Australia and another in Chile’s Tunquen River. Pandoravirus is the largest virus to be found by man, and about 93% is unidentified genetics. It’s finders also speculate that it might be the fourth domain of life (the current belief is that there are only 3: Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukarya).
