Is Your Egg Safe To Eat?
You may have heard of this trick, but it really does work! To check if your eggs are still fresh and good to eat, drop them in a saltwater solution to check. If it sinks, it’s good to eat, but if it floats, then it’s doubtful.
This can be explained by some simple science, too. When eggs decay, the yolk disappears and gets replaced by air, thereby reducing the density. Salt raises the water’s density, and that causes bad eggs to float.
