The study, published in Cancer Prevention Research, is an early step toward finding out whether compounds found in ginger root might prevent colon cancer.Researchers have discovered that ginger can cause the death of cancer cells in two distinct ways. One is called apoptosis, in which the cancer cells basically commit suicide without harming healthy cells that surround them. Another way is autophagy, in which cancer cells are tricked into digesting themselves. Either way, adding more ginger to your diet is a no-brainer.
