James Avery was a well-known American actor. He is most recognized for his role as Philip Banks acting alongside Will Smith in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Larue served in the Navy during the Vietnam war from 1968 to 1969. He was the Military commander and received the Medal Of Honor. He served the Navy during the Civil war as seaman USS Metacomet.

Once his service was over, Avery moved to California, where he started to write poetry and TV scripts for PBS. He also won an Emmy for a production. Avery voiced the popular character of shredder in the Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series. Unfortunately, James Avery recently passed away at the age of 68 due to heart surgery complications.
