Texas-born Hollywood star Owen Wilson may play a goofball on-screen, but there was a point when his life was anything but goofy. That’s because Wilson spent much of his youth at a military academy in New Mexico. Wilson eventually finished military school and started taking playwriting classes in college where he met his soon-to-be collaborator Wes Anderson.

Together, Wilson and Anderson co-wrote some of the most iconic modern American films of the era, including Bottle Rocket, Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums (the latter of which saw both Wilson and Anderson nominated for a screenwriting Oscar).
