Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy was a veteran before he became a sci-fi actor. Nimoy enlisted in the Army Reserve, training at Fort McPherson, Georgia. He served for a year and a half until 1955. During that time, he achieved the rank of sergeant. He spent part of his time in the Reserve with the Special Services’ Army branch.
It was there that he let his comedic and acting talents flourish, putting on shows that he emceed, narrated, and wrote. After leaving the military, he would go on to become famous as Dr. Spock, a character that Nimoy embodied perfectly.
