Michael Caine is of the most famous actors to come from Britain, but many people don’t know that he was in the military before he became an actor. He served in the British Army. He fought during the Korean War from 1952 until 1954, where he saw combat. He was with the Royal Fusiliers, which was an infantry regiment on the front lines.

The former Fusilier would later be knighted by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace for his services to film. Caine, who already had a CBE for his contributions to cinema, was knighted as Sir Maurice Micklewhite.
