This one is a little bit different, as Bob Hope is technically not a “real” veteran. He served with the USO for such a long time and entertained so many troops that the American Armed Services decided to award him the title of Honorary Veteran. The comedian did fifty-seven tours for the USO, serving from 1941 until 1991, often traveling overseas to dangerous locations.

An act of US Congress granted him the Honorary Veteran status, which was something that few people objected to, as he had been such an integral part of the entertainment industry for the troops.
