Very few people know that Dr. Ruth Westheimer, a famed intimacy therapist and talk show host, actually was a trained sniper for Haganah, which is an underground Jewish military organization. Dr. Ruth served in Haganah from age sixteen to twenty, when her military service was cut short after a bomb went off in her barracks and nearly paralyzed her.

Dr. Ruth was unaware that she was such a talented sniper until she entered Israeli military training in 1944. It was there that she (and her commanding officers) realized that she could hit a target further away than anyone else.
