When asked why he joined the military, Robert Stack said that he was raised in a military family and, whether from the country or city, he “never liked the bad guy.” Stack joined the military to fight in WWII. While he was in the military, he was awarded many different accolades, including the WWII Victory Medal, Expert Rifle Ribbon, American Campaign Medal, Expert Pistol Ribbon, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
He served upon two ships: the USS Hancock in 1944 and the USS Sitkoh Bay in 1945. He would go on to win an Emmy Award for his acting after leaving the military.
