James Garner was an actor and producer, and he had a career that spanned more than fifty years. Before he became Hollywood royalty, he was a member of the US Army. He served in the Korean War for a year and two months, and, there, he was wounded in combat twice.
Garner would return home and become famous for his roles on shows such as The Rockford Files, where he played PI Jim Rockford, and Maverick, on which he starred as Bret Maverick. His most recent role was in The Notebook in 2004, ten years before his death in LA at age 86.
