Comedian Buddy Hackett enlisted in the US Army after Pearl Harbor. He served with an antiaircraft unit during WWII. He was furloughed in 1945, and, when he returned home, he decided to become an actor after he was done with his Army service. Hackett would not only star in movies like The Music Man and The Love Bug, but he also was a voice actor.
He signed a contract with Disney, and he did voice acting for the part of Scuttle in The Little Mermaid. Hackett also had a longstanding stand-up comedy career, touring Las Vegas, where he had a comedy residency.
